I setup postfix +mysql + cyrus Imap today using the instructions locate
on this site.

authenticate either through squirrelmail or telnetting to port 110 and

What I have tryed to debug the problem:
1) imapd.conf contains a line : "saslauthd_path:/var/state/saslauthd"
2) Saslauthd is runn

sasl_pwcheck_method: saslauthd and in imap file have two lines

with helpful suggestions from this newsgroup, i was able to install cyrus 2.0.14
running with ldap (openldap 1.2) auth. so i tried sieve out.
# telnet localhost sieve
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain.
Escape character is '^]'.

as philipp has suggested, i changed to openldap 1.2.x and recompiled pam_ldap. the

i looked into the logs, and it seems during the first try, imapd dies before calling
pam.
any ideas?
