backup - but will the server accept this?). It seems to me the mails are
stored in single plain-text files, so using normal string functions I
can easily grab the messageID and remove any duplicates.

Normally the IMAP protocol allows subscription to certain mail folders. Is this possible with cyrus server, and if so how can I enable this? At the moment Evolution says I can not subscribe to folders of my imap server (running on localhost by the way).

I've a problem with the combination procmail/cyrus.
My system:
1) I've the chain fetchmail > procmail > cyrus that works perfectly. All mails arrive, are sorted out, very nice. Procmail has it's rc file in /etc, no per-user procmail files.

My setup:
- fetchmail to pick up mail from some imap and pop resources, mail is passed on to procmail.
- postfix to receive mail over smtp from remote hosts, mail is passed on to procmail.
- procmail sorts the mail, mostly for maill
