Some work in this direction have been done by Atif Ghaffar (
http://www.ispman.org/ ).
His solution is to externaly config stock Cyrus instalations from data in
LDAP.
Making Cyrus LDAP aware by itsef will be nice.

Somewhat, but only for about seven years or so I'm afraid. Mostly CP/M
and later Windows until then.

Still a better (and easyer) solution will be to make the mailbox separator
configurable, not only dot.
This way, you can use dots in users name and users just log with
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and use -say- backslash as a mailbox separator.

IMP is very widely used and very good indeed. However, at times may be
somewhat tricky to make it work.
You may also try squirrelmail ( www.squirrelmail.org), it's a breeze to
install and quite good (and showing some growth potential).

You may use the @domain.com method.
Unfortunately, Cyrus don't admit dots in user names, as dots are (the only)
mailbox hierarchy separator. (Other IMAP servers, like Netscape's, allow to
use alternate characters as separator, such as a backslash).
So you have two options:
1. Patch the Cyrus sourc

Do you happen to know where these can be found?
