Probably a faq, but is it safe to just arbitrarily delete a file from a
users mailbox from the shell? I.E. Not via pop3 or imap? Just rm -f the file?
I'm inclined to think this is neither safe, nor a very good idea... But I
thought I'd ask anyway.

ructure, because before everything seemed to be hashed except for the
default partition where the mail is actually stored. That should take care
of linux's issues with large directories.
Thanks!

ivery? This would
seem somewhat wasteful, especially on a busy system with lots of disk
IO... Nothing else is talking lmtp to this server so it should only be
getting lmtp connections on the socket.

over 4000 mailboxes at present... Our exact configuration is as follows: RedHat

I've tried setting the following to set default acl's & quotas but it

Any assistance and/or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry folks, I was just confused & marginally mis-configured...
Pam is working beautifully now! ;) Though cyradm asks me for my password
twice before authenticating me, is this normal?

Updating myself a bit here... I *was* able to get it to authenticate from
my ldap system (which was my main goal) but it seems a bit strange the way
its working...
Here's what the logs are saying:
Dec 26 17:59:58 mailhost imapd[21933]: failed to set plaintext secret for

Help!
Setting up cyrus-imapd 2.0.9 for pam authentication, and everybody fails
unless they use the cyrus users's password...
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
