My inetd.conf entry is similar, though I'm also using tcpd:
lmtp stream tcp nowait cyrus /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/cyrus/bin/de
The perl module doesn't pick up the ssl libraries properly (I am assuming
that you have ssl installed and is visible to the compilation process). I
had
made following changes to the Makefile.PL to make the ssl visible. Use
the following patch to make cyradm perl module pick ssl:

The short answer: it is a very known problem with inetd. The quickest
replacement is using xinetd (the same thing but with a cherry on top :) and you
get extra functionalities if you care.

Im running an old version of cyrus-imap (v1.5.19) with Aaron Newsome's
mysql pwcheck patch (ver 0.02). My choice for this was unfortunately
