Actually, it does (at least for the postscript device).
See the grops manual page. The list of fonts to be included
in the postscript output is in file .../font/devps/download.

thank you. I'm worried about how Groff will (or rather: will not) embed
these extra fonts into the document. If I'm not mistaken Groff does not
embed ("bundle") fonts with dvi and ps. Or is that controller through a
command switch?
