We have been working on a new design for The Mail Archive message pages.
The goal has been to visually bring you to the message content faster.
The subject and message are right there at the very top left of the page
now.
We've been finding and fixing bugs with the new design the last few weeks
And a follow-up to let everyone know the blackout is complete. The web
site is back to normal, and all messages were processed today as usual.

the individual lists and still is. So we've never had Lucene search
parameter controls on that site-wide search.

- prevented duplicates from appearing in the results
- case-insensitivity on our special field names in searches (date, from,
subject, message)
That tidies things up nicely.

MHonArc is all written in Perl. Lucene is built on Java, but we use it via
a Python wrapper. The Mail Archive's wrapping layers and sorting code is

and "date" directives. I'll see what I can do to fix that.

We're always working to improve the service The Mail Archive provides, and
we realized that it's been a while since we got any suggestions for the site
from users. We always intended the list to be a discussion forum for the
list rather than us just sending you annual up
We will be moving The Mail Archive's hardware to a new cabinet in a
few minutes. The service will be offline for no more than 30 minutes
we hope. Should be much quicker than that.

For 11 years The Mail Archive has used the single "arch...@mail-archive.com"
address for all subscriptions (well, not really.it used to be "

We've added paging to The Mail Archive's search results. Example:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]&q=import
We also added the message author at the end of each search result
fragment, with a link to see all messages by that author.

I can. The only downside with sorting results by newest-first is that
you lose the relevance ordering. Right now, results are displayed
according to the search engine's concept of "most relevant" first.
