For sys-boot/refind:

I include the initramfs and commandline into the kernel image.
But you can specify initrd seperately if needed by adding extra menu-entries.

My issue is described in one of the last comments in the following bug:

The problem I am now facing is that none of the patches listed on that link
seem to apply cleanly,

into scripts and start those from an existing cron.
Of the 2, I think improving Martin's project is the most likely option for me
as it doesn't have additional dependencies and seems to be easily implemented.

Either of those 2, probably btrfs as I prefer native support in the kernel,

If you specify an IP for the interface AND the bridge, which one will be used
for the communication?
I would suggest the following for your "net" config:
---
config_enp3s0="null"
bridge_xenbr0="enp3s0"
config_xenbr0="192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 brd 192.168.1.255"
routes_xenbr0="default gw 192.168.1.1"
rc_net_xenbr0_need="net.enp3s0"
---
Also ensure you have a " net.xenbr0 " file:
# cd /etc/init.d
# ln -s net.xenbr0 net.lo
Then start net.xenbr0:
# /etc/init.d/net.xenbr0 start
If this doesn't work, please send the results of the following commands:
# ifconfig -a
# brctl show

Striping increases performance, I use it as well.
Why put all the software that I load when needed (and expect to be thrown out

Putting them in /etc/rc.conf makes it simpler to maintain the init-scripts

I think you are talking about a script that handles a more "dynamic" database
to force renames/softlinks for devices keeping names identical?
I haven't played with mdev yet, but isn't that already in mdev?
Or does mdev require it to be set manually?
Btw, the "keep same devicename" is rather annoying when having to replace the

That is, untill someone comes up with the "clever" idea of shoving an
automounter into udev. (Will it then also auto-unmount when I want my CD
back?)

Or am I the only one who didn't notice any "obvious" problems? ;)

I think the data-directory is included from upstream and is there to have it
work when installing it "blindly". Recommendations are not always possible
(think hosted environments)

My new server has one on the mainboard (Tyan S5512GM4NR) that has a web-
interface from which I can start a java-app for remote desktop.
Other options: reset/power control, online read-out of sensor-data and I can
patch the BIOS without starting the server.
First time I got this and I like it enough to want it for future servers.

t think there is a script that automatically creates the directory.
If there is, I haven't seen it yet.

Also, this will only work if the VG has sufficient unused space (eg. not used
by LVs) on the other disk(s) to accomodate the data moved.

Any files you manually copy to the iPod will NOT be picked up as a database
file needs to be updated as well.
Apple also has this annoying tendency to change the DB-structure for every
version and gtkpod needs to have specific support for your model for it to
work.

If SMART is saying it will die in 24 hours it will make a nice doorstop :)
I wouldn't use it for data (even throw away stuff) anymore.

These only matter when there are conflicting rules in these files. The rule in
the "lower" number is used. Higher numbers are then ignored.

Wrong, see above.

Wrong, /etc/init.d/alsasound is a fix for that.
Udev should handle the situation where filesystems are not available yet and
keep those in a retry-queue for when all filesystems are available.

/var will be required. alsasound is a workaround for this.

use LVM for everything except / and I do NOT need to use an initramfs.
It has worked this way for years and making an initramfs mandatory for this is
a REGRESSION.

Eerhm...
If Grub is the bootloader, wouldn't we just need to have a "signed" version of
Grub?

Short answer:
Please add "virtual/ffmpeg threads" to "/etc/portage/package.use" and try
again.
Longer answer:
"required by virtual/ffmpeg" means that the virtual-ebuild is asking for that
change and that ebuild also has a threads USE-flag.
I actually have "threads" enabled in /etc/make.conf.

Please don't CC me into all the emails, list-mails end up correctly.

I actually prefer using "vhosts" USE-flags. It allows me to test new versions
before wiping the existing onces.
Is there any reason why you advice against the vhosts-method?

Not seen that error before. I am wondering if something might be configured
incorrectly.
Do you have the folder: "/usr/share/webapps/otrs/3.0.10" ?
Also, I would try not to put quotes arount the "-d" parameter. I have never
needed that myself.
