Seems that this arose from media-libs/libdvdcss... Can we rename this to
dvdcss to make it clear that this have something to do with dvds and not
with web technologies?
To find out what a USE flag is for, we have descriptions.

Of course, I'm not talking about benefit for packages but about benefit
for users (me included). Technically we could name USE-flags usin

Maybe we should have a deprecated eclass for showing a common messaged

be detected by looking if they inherit deprecated.

Arguably we could specify a time period before they can be removed? This
is probably GLEP material though :)

The "lesstif" global USE flag is no longer used by any ebuild or

If there are no objections, I will remove it from use.desc and from
the profiles that have it in use.mask.

Hi all,
After a (basically too) long while, I finally managed to drop the
ppc-macos keyword from all packages in gentoo-x86. All packages that
were keyworded are "moved to prefix", which basically means that the
keyword lives on there in a (in most cases slightly modified) copy of
the ebuild from

Where is the pressing need to do that? Again, which current package would
use a re-defined "css" USE

No package would use it, and there is no _pressing_ need. I still think
it's nicer to let the user understand. What if we had qt referring
