Set environment variable to something like
export LDR_CNTRL=MAXDATA=0x8000
Then it did compile.

A colleague just told me, that aix only gives an application 256 MB memory

gcc-bugs mailing lists, that version 4.1.1 which I downloaded from ftp.hvcc.edu
