While testing candidate binaries 6.0.13 I noticed that it suggests using
tomcat-native 1.1.10.
I was at version 1.1.8. I was curious as to what had changed, but, could not
find
a changelog, is there one?

The changelog still points to Tomcat 5.5.17.

A change was made a while ago to the Unix version of the file to only
add tools.jar to the class path if debug or javac was specified on the
command line. I am pretty sure that change was made because tools.jar is
no longer needed, but, it could prove useful when debugging a problem?
