We should at least retain the information of which older version of Log4j maps
to which older version of Java.
I thought it would be nice to keep the links but don’t feel super strongly
about it.

general I think keeping them around suggests that we're still willing to
support fixes on those branches, even if we document to the contrary. That
said, it's easy enough to close tickets against old versions by poin

But agreeing with Remko, we can (should better?) keep the links to the
latest releases with Java 6 and 7 support.
