Things were working for me [after a very long fight - so complex I don't
even know what worked] in 12.04.5 until some weeks ago. Something
changed and now I can't get fglrx to work or to install/reinstall. What
is the situation with 12.04.5? Many of the 'It worked' above remarks

Hello, I'm quite confused. I thought this was fixed and released. No?!
That might explain the problems I've had as recently as today trying to
install the new fglrx files. Please clarify what the status really IS

I really don't think I know how to open a bug report. I have a question
here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2244716&page=1 and think
the two are likely related - but I may be wrong. I'm really not very
advanced in Linux.

Yes, the one that come with the 12.04 install freezes all up. I can't
even get rid of it..I just try not to touch it. However, I added via
terminal another force-quit and it works fine. They just need to add the
working one to the install package - or make that one install properly.

and ALWAYS locks up entire OS. I have to use button on computer to shut
down and loose things I'm working on. It worked just fine in 11.
