When the freeze happens, can you still move the mouse pointer? In a Xorg
session, a moving mouse pointer would mean it is only gnome-shell that
froze and not Xorg itself.

The missing desktop icons are meant to be provided by 'nautilus-desktop'
in 18.04. So that sounds like a symptom of the regression rather than a
cause.
Since the shell clearly mostly loaded before freezing, the first thing I

OK, the Snaps need the CUPS Snap to actually be able to print, so you
need to re-install it:

I asked you to remove it to have better control on the recovery of the
system's CUPS, but now as we have re-established its original

reason that we uninstalled the snap CUPS, right?

After doing the same update (and no other packages), Firefox draws its
window in the wrong position on my machine (offset to the left by 36px
and to the top 32px). Thus no window decorations are visible anymore.

Removing Dock didn't help, I already tested.. I'll enable Dock with single
monitor and let you know.
Cursor get stuck with whole screen. I described other symptoms and possible
causes in #16, I didn't notice anything else.
