Downloaded the and installed the Sun JDK and mozilla. ln -s to the
plugin has always worked in the past... now it is giving the below

Im planning to turn my ext2 to an ext3 after a system crash due to a
winmodem driver running with dependency problems ..
OK I get the bit about
tune2fs -j /dev/hda2
I dont get the bit about
touch /forcefsck
touch changes the file timestamps ? I cant find a refer
man update-rc.d

I've tried a few different installs to get Debian working on my system.
At one point I used the HD install script to install Knoppix on my harddrive.
It worked, in basics.
There seemed to be a few problems, such as menus in KDE (I would think this
would be a problem in Gnome, too).

/etc/motd doesn't really have anything to do with the boot process. It
is displayed to all users when they log in. You could change your script
to just echo the top 3 things and call the script from ~/.bash_profile
instead. That way only you see the top 3 things on your to-do list, not
everyone
