After some messing around with this, I discovered that a call, made by
the mailcap test, to \usr\bin\tty, is returning /dev/tty when urlview
has been called (as opposed to /dev/ttyN when urlview is not involved),
so the test (from /usr/lib/mime/packages/zgv)

Another two programs that gave me a lot of pleasure on slink, do not
work on potato: zgv and dvisvga or tmview.
All I get is a blank screen with nothing readable at all.
I never had any problems before (on slink and I thin on hamm too) and
did not have to configure it after installation

I posted this to the Debian Users Mailing List around May 1,
but to date, I have received no reply. If someone would help
me configure vgalib and zgv, I'd appreciate it.

Hi
I run a 486-DX2/66, 16 MB Ram, two 1Gig SCSI disks and a CD ROM on
an Adaptec 2840 controller. I have a trident 9400 1MB video card,
and a KFC 15 inch monitor. This system WAS BEFORE a CRASH, running
1.1, wonderfully. zgv worked, out of the box. NOW, running Debian

Hello all,
I want to use zgv with svgalib, which works, but the hi-res modes
do not (I get 640x480, I think).
As far as I know, my video card (et6000, 4Mb) is downward compatible
with
et4000 which has good (?) support in svgalib. I however cannot gather
from the docs how to change modes. the F
I finally got zgv working, I had to edit the /etc/vga/vgalib.config file to
increase my monitors horizontal and vertical rates, commented out the
section for the mach32 setting, and forced it to detect my card as VGA (was
detecting it as TVGA which my card isn't, htough it is a Trident)

Most likely there's a problem with your svgalib confiuration.

I tried downgrading to the stable version of zgv after the hamm version
blanked my screen and locked my system (both from pine and the command
line). The stable version does the same thing. It appears the problem lies
elsewhere, any help on what to do to fix this problem?

I just upgraded zgv to the one in hamm and invoked it from pine and it gave
me a hardware lock. I am running a Kingston/AMD5x86 with 32MB RAM, with a
Trident tgui9440 video card (not supported under svgalib).
