Hello world,
I'm running Debian unstable with a custom 2.4.23 kernel on an old IBM
NetVista. All seems well until I try to load USB modules to setup a
printer. Loading usb-uhci reports two ports detected (that's right)
and then locks the machine up tight.
A little googling didn&

Hi, Currently on boot, my system is loading the usb-uhci module. I am
trying to change that to get it to load the uhci module instead. I am
running a custom 2.4.22 kernel if that matters. I want uhci instead of
usb-uhci based on the following output I get from a lspci -v | grep HCI

There are two reasons why the module is not loading:
First of all, it's named "usb-uhci" not "uhci" hence the right command
is
"modprobe usb-uhci"
which you'll have to execute with root privileges. However if you're
running the stock Debian Woody ins

Try
modprobe usb-uhci
instead.

Linux kernel modules are already present on your system. Installing the
module refers not to obtaining it, but to loading it into the running
kernel. This is generally done with a command such as "modprobe uhci",

I have some trouble loading the module usb-uhci into my kernel (It is
a 2.4.21 and I am using Sarge). I would be very grateful for a hint
of what I am doing wrong. Where should I look to gain further knowledge?
Thanks in advance
