I have reinstalled dicover and now DRI is working right fine : ppracer
is playable again.
I think I had a problem with the agpgart module even if it looks like it
was loaded just fine.

If you think the nVidia Drivers are tough. ATI's will be even better (or
worse, depending on your view).

...on GeForce2 MX200 32MB. So your 1600 FPS seems normal to me.

Try doing the configuration the debian way via dpkg-re
seems odd there.
I've told KDE to apply the settings on startup and logged out, logged back
in... even rebooted completely only to have the problem back. Is there a
step I'm missing... do I have to do something special to get full support
for my video card (ATI Radeon 7500).

'Afraid I can't remember the details, it was some time ago. I think
there are various versions of the Radeon chip and the 7500 was new when
4.1 came out. I found a reference to problems with 4.1 so tried 4.2 and
all my problems went away so I assumed that version was needed for the 7500.

I just got an ATI Radeon 7500 card with dual outputs (DVI-I and VGA). My
search of the Xfree86 site, various newgroups, etc, turns up conflicting
information regarding the status of this card.
The only driver referenced on the XFree site is the ATI site, which does

The ATI Radeon is supported by XFree86 according to #283 on
