checkpassword and qmail-pop3d - authorization failure

Hello! I compiled checkpassword 0.76 witch -lcrypt and put it in /bin. But it will not work with qmail-pop3d, which is invoked inetd: pop-3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/qmail-popup qmail-popup domain.com /bin/checkpassword /usr/sbin/qmail-pop3d Maildir I get an

Hello! I installed ucspi-tcp and qmail. How could I use qmail's pop3d?

qmail-pop3d/xinetd/vchkpw -- my madness.

I currently have a server running qmail as its MTA. I would like to run qmail-pop3d as my pop3 daemon but I can't seem to get checkpassword or vchkpw to like the way debian handles shadow passwords. (i.e. with -lcrypt instead of -lshadow...) Is there anyone here running xinetd and qmail-
