I'm trying to bind multimedia keys by their names:
$ grep mpc ~/.config/i3/config
bindsym XF86AudioPrev exec --no-startup-id mpc prev
bindsym XF86AudioNext exec --no-startup-id mpc next
Those bindings didn't work. `xev` didn't recognize "keypress" events

Now after boot I have the multimedia keys and I do not need to unplug and

Hi
as the title says I am unable to use the multimedia keys on the keyboard
since upgrade to jessie.
Do you have any hint, because all I find is information on how to fix the
multimedia keys in general, which is of no use.
On the notebook the multimedia keys (Volume Up/Down and Mute) work fine

I don't know if pulseaudio has to do with your multimedia key issue, I

However, I neither like multimedia keys, nor pulseaudio.

Hi,
I recently switched from GNOME to KDE on my iBook G4, but don't know how
to get the multimedia keys working.
They worked fine under GNOME, but under KDE only the monitor brightness
keys work, albeit with no visual feedback. I tried assigning global

Hi!
I have a Genius Ergomedia 700 keyboard that has tons of extra
keys.
I've been able to map all of them except an included scroll wheel, I have the
scancodes that generates but I don't know which command should I map so it
behaves exactly as a mouse scroll wheel.

You're right. Any key combo involving Fn isn't going to get picked up

I'm 100% sure it's a setting. It works fine in Gnoppix, which is based

Thanks but my laptop isn't listed overthere. :(. I've had it working in

Once you've got the keysyms bound, you can do interesting things with
them. It's usually in your window manager that you do this. Sawfish
has xmms bindings available, so you can easily bind the multimedia keys
to xmms actions. It's also pretty easy to get W
