AFAIU, kpackage lacks support for some important things needed by apt.
Use at your own risk.

Hi list!
I prefer to use KDE. I use for update the apt-get commands.
Since some weeks kpackage smart update says:
Fatal Python error: pycurl: libcurl link-time version is older than
compile-time version.
I found this problem in the debian reportbug site however they closed
the bug.

Hi all,
I'm trying out KPackage and apt-get for the first time.
One thing I'm missing is a way to get a list of installed packages. Is this
available someplace from either tool?
The second thing is how do I get dependencies to install? I tried installing
package apache but it told

I did a routine apt-get upgrade today from testing. There were a
ton of updated packages including libc, rpm etc. However now
when I try to run aptitude it says loading cache and locks up.
For kpackage it says
kpackage: error while loading shared libraries:
librpmdb-4.0.3.so: cannot open
I have a problem trying to compile Kpackage for KDE 1x for rpm 4: the configure
script refuses to include support for rpm because it can not finf the db and
librpm libraries - they seem to have gotten their names changed and I can't see
what to change in the configure script
-
it all sounds good. thanks for the response.

I have been using kpackage here since the days of KDE
are there any pitfalls to using kpackage, in kde, for apt-gets? the user
interface is real easy, making me suspicious, considering the subtle
complexities of apt-get from the command line.
