to install the basic graphic environment. Run
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

Why do you like to use X11-v3 whith xlib6-v4? I wouln´t do that! Are you
shure you like to use X11-v4? Now it is a part of the unstable Woody. If you
like a stable Debian, use potato!
To create the XF86Config file you can install the package xviewdetect and
run the command:

I am interested in installing X after upgrading to debian 2.2, but can seem
to run xf86config
