tried similar when trying to install and "old" package in a "new"
system. The old package want'ed to downgrade a lot of other packages and
all of h*ll broke loose... I've solved the dependencies problem by calling
apt-get -f
Hello all,
I've managed to badly screw up apt-get by going from KDE 2.2 in woody to a KDE 3.2
woody backport.
Shame on me, but now I've uninstalled the 3.2 backport and reset my sources.list
to have the following (uncommented) lines:
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable main

Take a look at the man entry for "apt-get --fix-broken."
You could try:
dpkg --remove perl perl-base perl-modules
apt-get install perl perl-base pe

HI all. The other day someone posted info about
apt-get. welp, in all my debian excitement I've
misplaced it somewhere... I have looked all over
the debian web site but couldn't find any info on
how to set up apt-get. (I know I saw it

I would say that probably you ran dselect first, and that package got selected.
The
easiest way would be to start dselect , then find "exim" with

After that apt-get causes segmentation-fault.
I always get message "Electric Fence 2.0.5..",

I'm hoping someone out there will have a better idea than me where to look
for a solution to this, but in a nutshell:
The short version:
Since I reinstalled/repartitioned/moved the kernel to 2.2.9, apt-get
has been stalling indefinitely as it downloads anything from a resource
