Current stable versions of Debian won't install on AHA2940s as I have found
- allegedly it is a bug. Use another distro or get the bug fixed (I believe
there's a page where updated boot disks can be downloaded with a fix, but
this posted to the list maybe a year or more ago so good luck finding

You need a different kernel, one with AHA-2940 SCSI support *exclusively*
and *specifically*. No other SCSI adapter drivers should be in the kernel

a lot lately. So make sure you run a recent kernel,
2.0.36 or even better 2.2.2 2.0.34 is buggy, some earlier
kernels work but don't take advantage of 2940 features.

When i boot to get the adapter recognized i have to append

The card is recognized and also the jaz drive. But no partition is

aic7xxx driver. Adaptec's product literature states that the 2910 has
the same architecture (minus BIOS) as the AHA-2940 and is supported by
