Is there some configuration to set to tell X that the chip can
handle 230MHz?
I just upgraded from XFree36 3.3.6 (package xserver-svga) and a
Diamond Viper 330 / vNidia RIVA TNT2. That X server allowed at least
202 MHz on that card with
On Sarge, I just installed package xserver-xfree86 and in the
configuration specify to use the xserver-xfree86 server.
However, then run startx, I still get the old xserver-xvga
server (XF86_SVGA).
I even re-did the configuration (using dpkg-recongfigure).
What else do I need to do to get

I have that laptop, attached is the old config file I was using, (using
xorg now) my screen was SXGA so you might want to tweak that part if you
have a different screen.

Everything is in that XF86Config-4, create one with dpkg-reconfigure
and another with old xf86config . And run diff for both . You will get
a diffrence.

# XFree86 -configure

xserver-xfree86. At first gdm exited with no display fournd. I deleted
XF86Config-4 from /etc/X11 and tried again. This time I got a display
but with only 640x480 resolution. I deleted every XF86Config file in
the system and tried
