think the card settings are now OK I suspect the problem is the Dell D1028LR
17" monitor. I've noticed that at the resolution I desire (1024x768)
XF86Setup isn't appending "-hsync -vsync" which seems common in many of the

Unfortunately, I'm not an X expert, I just happen to have the same card.
I'd try running xf86config again, and/or XF86Setup, and look for the autoprobe
option
(and don't select it).

If I set it up to run with 1024x768 I get 2-10seconds of flickering rolling
