On Fri, 30 Jan 1998, I sent a message to the testing list and to

Craig's ftp site and yours still had v0.17.
If you wish, I can send these diffs to

I'm feeling kind of sassy today, and thought I might try upgrading to
hamm. I have seen a script posted that help do this. I still have it
somewhere, however I was wondering where I could find the most recent
version of this and instructions/tips for using it?

Just FYI, there are only 460 odd in main in buzz!
That's progress ...

Hi, Craig!
I updated libc5 to libc6 on 2 computers (Debian 1.3 was installed in
Nov-97 and Feb-97) using your script. Worked fine for me.
Updating the rest of the packages with dselect is still quite painful.
Thank you,
Sasha.

The obvious question (please don't take offense) is: Did you
start ppp before entering dselect? dselect, or rather dpkg-ftp, will
attempt to make an ftp connection, but assumes that a ppp connection
is up. It does not check, AFAIK, to see if there is such a connection.

are you behind a firewall of any kind? check your configuration of dpkg-ftp

Trouble? e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
I just ran this script on an old system (somewhere between rex and bo)
with lots of -dev packages installed. found and fixed two bugs.
- libc6 conflicts with libpthread0
- i made a typo... PKGS_GPP instead of PKGS_LIBGPP.
- some old version of perl's postrm didn't delete a .packlist
oops. i hard-coded 'binary-i386'. mea culpa.

here's another update to igor's latest version.
this one:
- avoids duplicated code
- tells the user what it's doing
- has more error checking
- guesses at the location of the mirror

I hope this is the final version for a while. The script works here on a
freshly installed bo.
