Here is a generic PC running Squeeze with a USB multi-slot card reader, branded AtechFlash Technology, Inc., Pro II. I have one SD card marked NexxTech SDHC, Class 4, 4 GB. When the card is plugged into the Atech reader, Wheezy has no indication. Still the card works in an XO-1.5 with Gnome.
