The latest stable kernels have the module in the tree, so if you plan on
creating a custom kernel, it's there to be compiled, and the SB Live name is
in the list of sound modules to pick from.

It was a while since I asked for some help with my
SB Live under Debian. I was having trouble with the
pre-compiled modules (kernel version mis-match).
So, some kind person pointed me to source for the emu10k1
driver (how was I supposed to know this had anything to do
with SBLive? n
