Have I told you all that I love the Internet. Where else can a few people
complain and get results for a much larger group of people. This stuff rules.
I'm just happy and stuff.

I wrote to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and they (eventually) acknowledged their
CD-Rs were created from corrupted ISOs. They told me they will send me new
Debian 2.2 CD-Rs for no cost, plus their "Applications and Games" CDs.
Problem solved.

How did you upgrade using the CD? I downloaded the latest apt (0.3x)
from ftp.debian.org as the cd came with 0.1.8. I noticed a program
called apt-cdrom which is supposed to set up /etc/apt/sources.li

This is odd. I used Cheapbytes' Debian 2.0 CD to install Linux (later
upgraded to slink via FTP) and everything worked quite smoothly. I
recommended them to a few friends. Have a lot of you out there had bad

The 2.2.3 Kernel tarball is on the Source 2 CD. I just got the
patches for 2.2.4, and 2.2.5, and I've been running 2.2.5 for a
couple of days.

I didn't have any problems at all with the Cheapbytes CDs, I got
them a week ago, and they are just plain perfect.

OK, here is some notes on Cheapbytes Debian 2.1
The first binary CD is the one to use. The second CD is a smaller
kernel and software set for laptops. So use the first. Just boot
off of the CD and select the defaults for the directories under
source media. Some will complain that they do not exis

Care to share exactly how to get it to work? I've got it coming in the
mail and I'd like some background on how exactly to get it too work.

Yes and the source for the kernel modules is missing. If you untar
the kernel tar.gz in /usr/src the modules code is not there.
Someone needs to get Cheapbytes to be more careful with Debian.
Never the less, I did get it to work just fine, but its tricky.

I found this a little confusing myself the first time. If you ordered the 4
disc set as I did, the Binary CD only has the main packages. The non-free
and contrib packages are on the Extras 1 & 2.
I would suggest starting from scratch and only select the base and package
and let dselect install th

Point DSELECT to your CD rom first. Once you've mounted the CD, type:
/debian/main
This will reference the root. For the remaining questions, respond NONE.
This worked for me.
