I'd suggest submitting a wishlist "bug" to the maintainer about turning

1.7-1.8 Afterstep has a builtin theme support.
You can use that engine, or do it by hand, just untar the tarball, and put
files into appropriate directories (manually).
If you will use the theme engine, go to GNUstep/Library/Afterstep/themes
directory, and put your tarball there. Next update all, a

Possibly a stupid question, but are you sure that you have xterm

Afterstep was running in 16bpp, not 8.
If I modified the .steprc file I could make the AFstep.xpm icon appear
elsewhere on the wharf bar.
The fix was to install xproc_1.12.2_i386.deb from the /debian/updates

But... Where would I change that in the XF86config?
Where could I change it from 8bpp to 16bpp or even higher?
