Hi @ll,
i have trouble with my hylafax configuration.
I use a Debian Etch System with the standard hylafax package from

The faxserver is only used for incoming faxes. Each incoming fax is

Last time I did fax, I used mgetty+sendfax. It worked just fine.

Thanks for the attempts to help all, but nobody seems to be able to
answer
the question of why dpkg (or apt-get) won't install all of hylafax's

As the option of reinstalling the system is out of my hands, I've ended

Hmmm, my system doesn't have either faxrunq or faxspool and hylafax
works just fine. There is a faxq which must be running and this is
started at boot time by /etc/init.d/hylafax, which is symlinked to
/etc/rc*.d/S20hylafax. This also starts hfaxd.

Hylafax keeps pretty good (although long) log files in /var/log/hylafax.
You should probably look at them and it may give some hints.

Ok. I will put the fax related files in a separate package mgetty-fax
(and the voice part in mgetty-voice).
Thus hylafax should conflict with mgetty-fax .

Sure, I like debmake
It would probably be good to split mgetty into
mgetty
mgetty-fax
mgetty-voice
mgetty-doc
That does not solve the problem with accepting incoming faxes though.
