Much the same experience here. Galeon renders web pages much better and
faster than Konq and the pluggins work better too.
Although it is possible to get konqueror to register flash and not be
prompted for a download, konqueror 2.2.2 does not handle flash
particularly well. I tried at length to get flash to work right under
konqueror, but some sites just wouldn't load right. If you must use

Fire up konqui. Settings|configure konqui. Go the file associations page.
Under applications|x-shockwave-flash make sure the embedding tab has Netscape
plugin viewer listed first. Do the same for applications|future

If I remember correctly you havent done anything wrong. You have to
delete something in the .kde directory sometimes to make flash work once
installed, unfortunately I cant for the life of me remember which file
to delete but I am sure someone will tell you :)
