Has anyone gotten hardware acceleration for the Matrox G400 working

As soon as I mailed this I figured it out. I needed to compile in the
Matrox driver into my 2.4.18 kernel. I had the AGP support but no
Matrox support.
Thanks,

You need to get the linux drivers from the matrox support site if you want
this lib.
You might like this:

Alex,
I've been requesting some information on the Linux Support Forum at Matrox. The list is very helpful and is a free signup.
I'm hoping between this list and the matrox list I can get some help. Because we both know that the Linux Power Desk and Drivers don't seem to directly suppo

Try the source at dri.sourceforge.net. It works for me. I did the following
1. d/l matrox mga_drv.o and mga_hal.o from matrox site
2. copy them to the appropriate x11 directory
3. d/l the dri from dri.sourceforge.net
4. compile the mga.o by make -f Makefile mga.o
5. cp mga.o to the appropriate /lib

You need to change things in two places :
1) In XF86Config-4, section "Module", add a line :
Load "dri"
and in section "DRI" add a line :

2) In /etc/modules, you must load two modules so add two lines :

Sorry, should have said something about that.
Currently running 2.2.17pre6, so that shouldn't be the problem...

In your kernel unders console drivers/Matrox acceleration did you enable
Millenium I/II support, Mystique support, or G100/G200 support? There is no
other options (besides multihead support which I have enabled).

The SVGA server supports this card, it is listed in the XF86Config
program so you should have no problems. (if you do upgrade to Xfree

I'm using one now and it works great. You need the 3.3.4 SVGA server.
I am running slink so I updated X to the 3.3.3 debian packages at netgod.net
and the 3.3.4 SVGA server direct from xfree86.org.
