Hello Everybody:
I am playing with Linux Debian 3.1 release 1 for first time. I have some
problems with the network access. In fact I can not ping my gateway. I
double checked the network setups using webmin and also using the X-Term
screen and everything look good.

Hi,
Bought a Dell Dimension 4550, wiped MS from the harddisk and installed
Debian. Well, I tried. Somehow I've installed the idepci flavor. (Why is
this the default?)
Anyhow, I can't get the NIC to work. The Dell documentation says it's an
Integrated Intel 10/100 Pro network adapter. I tried to

Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139 (rev 16).
IRQ 10.
Master Capable. Latency=32. Min Gnt=32.Max Lat=64.
I/O at 0xcc00 [0xccff].
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xd581 [0xd58100ff

I am new to Linux and have installed Debian 2.1
(Slink) onto a HP Vectra 486/66. I have a 3COM 3C900 Combo ethernet card
installed in my computer. I use a DSL connection at home to access the
internet and have it usually setup for DHCP (in Windows).
I don't think I have the correct driver
I'll conclude that there's a problem when running it as a module so I
compiled it in and it does work correctly then.

Debian 1.2 won't detect my NIC.
I've got a customized kernel with networking support but it doesn't
detect the card. The kernel has the PCI Tulip driver configured as a
module.
