The solutions I have found:
1. remove and reinsert the mouse

3. if you have two monitors, use synergy software
4. lastly stay with windows as you have pointed put below

I must admit that I am incredibly impressed with the quality of the code
and general ease of install. I have preformed two installations now, the
first also had the same mouse problem that I have after the second install.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I followed what Nick Hastings
suggested, and found that when I tried to modprobe usbcore, hid, input,
or
mousedev, that it said they couldn't be located. I also tried uname -a,
and
got:
2.2.20-idepci #1

I have a Logitech 2 button optical USB mouse, with a wheel, and I cannot
get it to work properly in x. If I move the mouse around, the cursor
goes to the top-left corner, and bounces around that area. I have tried
different protocols, such as Microsoft and IMPS/2, and tried to follow

hardware and not having found a straightforward mouse, I purchased a laptop,
and installed potato. No mouse problems. Then I apt-got the pico editor

If no good reference exists, can some computer science or engineering
instructor suggest this topic to one of their more adventurous students as
a term project, or even as a Masters thesis. By the way, I don't
understand why many exchanges on the Debian lists refer to unpredictable
Hello Isidor,
from experience, please check for these reasons/try this:
a) try to use ImPS/2 protocol in X config
b) check if gpm is running (general purpose mouse, e.g. for console)
typically, i could isolate these two reasons for the symptoms you
mentioned..
hope that helps,
Timo
hi, i have a logitech M35 serial mouse and when i use the x-server for
gnome, the mouse cursor works normally for a while, but later randomly starts to
jump around in steps of about 50-200 pixels. i tried the micro$oft-compatible,
