osportfolio.org looks like a neat setup, so we thought we'd
give it a whirl... but we can't find the cliffs notes on
getting java up and running. apt-cache search java brings
up a BUNCH of stuff and we don't know one from another.

I've just today, tried to install the 14 disk set is 3.1 (sarge) onto
a drive in a test box, but after the one disk was done, it asked to
be rebooted rather than asking for more disks, this despite my using
the 'expert26' install argument.

might like to check:
Did you download the files over the internet? Are they corrupted?
Check sizes with the originals.
Have you gone through bios disabling shadow memory?
What other hardware is installed in the machine?
