has always been a sufficient reference for me; books always seemed like
a bit of a waste of money. The spec is not a good way to learn the
basics of html, but if you can put together a basic page already then I
don't see the need for a book

I am planning to purchase an HTML book that provides good, indepth
explanations of how to use HTML.
I am undecided on these two books
1) "HTML 4 for the World Wide Web" by Elizabeth Castro
2) "HTML: the Complete Reference" Third Edition by Thomas A.
