I often backup the home directory of my portable pc by means of tar to
a desktop hd partition via nfs. The home.tar.gz is almost 2.2 GB. Both boxes
run Debian testing.
Now, following a substitution of my portable hd due to failure of the previous

Under debian testing I have installed the texlive version of tetex (I mean
the tetex version coming with www.tug.org DVD) because is more updated than
the boxed tetex deb stuff.
Now if I try to install lyx via apt-get debian looks for dependencies (tetex)
and doesn't find the
It has become a serious problem!
After the message here attached I completely uninstalled all the tetex packages
& the tex connected ones (lyx, texmacs, etc.) by means of "apt-get remove
--purge pasckage"; then - to be on the safe side - I removed by hand the
/etc/texmf & /usr/share/texmf directori
I have a Compaq Evo N800v portable pc endowed of its own docking station
to connect an external monitor, mouse and keyboard to the pc.
The pc runs both Win XP and Debian testing with which I usually work with
the kde desktop.
Till yesterday with XFree86 4.2 it all worked fine that is what I saw und
