i don't know if it HAS to be considered normal,
but that's what i used to get when using tob+afio to
do backups. usually a different tape fixed the problems

setup script before you run the big .bin file. and when
you have the setup, all you can do is uninstall/modify/repair.

I've found source driver (a kernel patch) in the diskette that comes with
the netcard
patched the kernel, worked like a charm.
