Just an observance - I have a brscan uninstall file in the download
folder Uninstaller_brscan4 and uninstaller_brscan-skey which are
uninstall scripts. You may have same if installed from brother script.

The brscan4 i8s on the Brother Printer site. Use the script for linux to
install it . My Brother functions fine as printer and scanner when
installed with the Brother script from their site.

I had EXACTLY this when I installed Bookworm 12 live when it first came

This is a wierd one! I have a dual boot (WinXP\Debian) and until
last week both worked fine. No change was made to the Debian system and it
crashed while I was creating a .xinitrc file. Upon rebooting the system would
get stuck (halt) at various times before it could get to the prompt.
Thanks everyone...I've got all the disks and my system is backed
up. Let's give it a try :)
