/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
This way, interfaces that were setup via /etc/network/interfaces and
ifupdown will be recognized and manageable via NM.

Have you tried looking for a firmware update for your drive? It might be
that the drive is incompatible with this specific media. I had this problem
with a NEC drive once that was solved through an upgrade.

iface eth0 inet dhcp

Try installing the package libnspr4-dev. It has fixed the problem for me.
If it does not work, you can also try an 'apt-get build-dep icedove'. I
have read of some people for whom this command has fixed it, although
for me
having a hard time trying to resolve the machine's fqdn.
Check /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts for your machine's hostname and
resolve address. If you need help with these, post your doubts to the list.

You can also use the symlinks from /dev/disk/by- . These are created
on the fly as well, but they use some physical characteristics of the
volumes to link them to the correct /dev/[hs]d[a-z].

Just as a suggestion. If you can use DOS under X, you could try dosbox
instead of dosemu. I have never had any problems with it, and didn't
need to configure anything.
