I am trying to build a kernel 2.2.17 with raid support. I thought the raid support is already in the kernel but that seems not to work. The latest available raid kernel patch is for 2.2.11 (kernel.org) or 2.2.10 (debian package). I applied patch 2.2.11 to the kernel sources but compilation faile

lilo + booting from raid1

I read in the software raid howto that lilo doesn't work if the boot partition resides on a raid1 device, but there is is a redhat patch for lilo. Does anybody know if there is a debian pkg for lilo which does the job? TIA, Werner

restore fails

I can dump file systems without problems but the restore fails. I am calling restore -ivf /dev/nst0 I can run the commands cd and ls but when I do a add file the command fails with bad name to addentry ./dir/dir2/file abort? [yn] Any ideas? Werner

fdisk problem

After partitioning my HD I deleted three partitions and made two new ones. Now there is an overlapping of one partition although I didn't enter the begin value (number of cylinders) displayed by fdisk: --- Disk /dev/sdb: 255 heads

I am running a debian machine (PC PII 350 MHZ, 128 MB RAM) as an Internet server. Today the server crashed the second times after running one week without any problems. The crash was caused by a kernel panic. Nothing has been written to a log file. Below is an excerpt which I found on the console:
