Christophe's solution did not work.
To be more exact in my wording, KDE boots to the point where it says
"Initializing System Services".
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I have a modem attached to a parport, but I can't seem to get it configured.
I've added parport support through modconf. And I'm not using a GUI, so I'm

Last week I tried to get IPCop up and running between 2 computers. The

After doing the apt-get upgrade my computer now has kernel 2.2 as the

Why in the hell has it done this?
Is the easiest method fix this simply to edit my lilo.conf so that they

Recently I asked about how to resolve the following situation.
We have 2 international offices that need permanent interconnectivity. Both
offices have a DSL connection.
So, 2 separate LANs worlds apart should for all purposes appear as one, all
traffic should be encrypted, secure and constant.
No, that's not it. I assure you.

Ok, everyone can forget my letter (FW: pcmcia). I've got my card working

After I installed the appropriate module, I knew the card was working
because of the IP traffic diode. Previously, this would only light up after

How do you configure, in this case eth0 to be DHCP dependent: i.e., how do I
make it seek an IP during a boot?
Likewise, how do I configure it for a permanent static IP?

I have installed 2.4.17 kernel and the pcmcia modules for that kernel.
Unfortunately, the card is still not working. On the debian-users newsgroup
