Take a look at your /etc/nsswitch.conf file. See if it has anything related to
dns for the 'hosts' directive.
If it only has files listed for hosts: you try adding dns after files so it

The error means that updatedb has not been run through your
cron scripts as it should have. su to the root account and try
running /etc/cron.daily/find and see if you get any errors.

Don't know about the PPP problem. Haven't had any here.
The other problem is caused by not configuring the NLS support in the
kernel.
In order to get the ISO99660, FAT, MSDOS, VFAT (there may be others, I'm
not sure)
you need to say yes to NLS.

I also ran across this problem when I tried a hand built MD5SUM from the
source package on sunsite. Once I replaced it with the Debian copy, the

One way that I know of is:
telnet localhost | tee session.txt
Other people that telnet into the machine can then 'tail -f
session.txt' and see exactly what you are doing. Very good for doing
training sessions.

What mailer are you running on your system? If you are running sendmail,
have you run the newaliases command (or sendmail -bi) to reinitialize the alias
file? If you are running some other mailer, I'm sure that there is a command
that will do this for you.

Previously I had to edit two other .h files to reference the proper
location of stddef.h being in /usr/include/linux rather than /usr/include.
Any help would be appreciated. Never ran into a problem like this in my
four years of running Slackware.
