Ok, I have decided that I am stupid. This is the only possible explination.
Can someone explain what I am doing wrong using very small words and short
sentances.
I am trying to install Xfree86 4.3 on my Woody system.
I go to http://people.debian.org/~mmagallo/packages/xfree86/i386/ and downlo
Thank all of you for the responses.
I think I see what I'm doing wrong, and I'm going to go about trying to fix
it. I will naturally let the list know how it turns out.
Again, thank you all for helping me with my frustration. I mean I was
seriously ticked off today
I will not mention how

but at the other one, I get no spam. This email address I subscribed about 48
hours ago and instantly got attacked with virus emails. I am getting 50 to 60

Or am I going to be having to do lots of build

Suggestions please?
Thank you.

Greetings. I am trying to add a directory to the list of sources for APT to use for
installing deb packages.
The dirctory is
/home/skippi/0data/backup/debian30/debian
I have been using the APT HOWTO.
In section 2.2 it tells me to use dpkg-scanpackages to create a Packages.gz file.
I did that

Am I missing any important steps?
Thanks much.
