Hi there,
I was trying to configure a debian to serve an nfs to my mac. The main
problem I encountered was that uids and guids did not match on those
computers, so I did not have read-write access I need. Since I did not want
to change the guids and gids on any of the machines I decided to use th

rnel is faster if you don't use modules, Iseriously doubt its true and for your case it would work much better-- the module is only loaded once and then its in memory.on Sunday 09/25/2005 Roberto Winter(

Hi! Thanks a lot for the prompt reply.
First of all I do have hci-hcd, ehci-hcd, and usb-storage compiled in
the kernel. Not as modules though, but that doesn't make a difference.
The thing is that I also hav UB compiled and it is not a module, so I
can't simply unload it. Is there a way to tell th
Hi there,
I have been looking around to solve this, but no one else seems to have had any similar roblems.
The thing is that I have an external hard drive and it takes forever to
copy files from/to it. Since it is USB2 there is something awfully
wrong.
I tested it on macosx and windoze and it work

Hi all,
I recently ran across some cue+mpc files and found out that there is
no program on debian to burn them to disc. This is why I made a
(fairly poor, I admit) script to be able to get the information from
the cue file and split the mpc file into wavs so that I could record
them using, say, cd
Hello again,
well... you were right!! They are receiving 404's... At least that is
what access.log is reporting. However, when I tried what Mathias
Tauber said, I got the source code for the root "index.html" instead
of 404... very strange! Can this be explained?

OOH no!
Er... sorry to all, but I just noticed that I am STILL getting a lot
of requests (sorry for marking this as solved!... my mistake).
How come? I did disable the proxy modules from apache what could
still be causing this?
If you answer, please send a copy to me, since I am not currentl
Thanks a lot guys!
That was right. I had to change '/etc/apache/modules.conf' as well as
changing /etc/apache/httpd.conf; I commented out the line:
LoadModule proxy_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libproxy.so
Then requests stopped right away. Isn't it weird that even yahoo.com
was using my server? I m

Hi there!
This started a few days ago with no apparent reason, my access.log has
more than a hit per seconf, coming from all sorts of bizarre pages
that have nothing to do with me... Why is that? Where can I get more
help? What is going on? I'm desperate here

Yes, you are right
Only loggin' in again got me into the group, apening a new shell does not do it!

I knew it was smething DUMB!...
Thanks, anyway.
Roberto.

Hi all, I already got great advice from this list, so here I go again:
the thing is I can't get "groups" working here and, honestly, I don't
know anyone who can (I have a couple of friends using debian as
well...).
breaks down like this, I'm user "rhwinter" and I want to join group
"camera" that ro
Hi again,
doesn't the output from "apt-cache policy" guarantee that (see my
first message)?
I mean, the "version table" I get relates the stable package and its
location, but the unstable (or whatever that is!) is also there... The
whole problem is that the installed version won't be downgraded to
.
so, still no luck.
But thanks for the try!
Roberto.
PS: I am still not on the list, so I ask you to CC any answers to me
too, thanks.
