Dear List,
For a client I need to install Sarge on a server. This needs to be

Etch is not an option right now.
However, this new server has a new Intel chipset with an E1000 netwerk

I cannot agree more to this. LVM is *the* way to go for you. It is not, I

However, make sure (if you plan to use ext3) to use the -O flag when

First of all, you shouldn't be compiling kernels from source from
kernel.org unless you have a special reason for it and you what you

Instead, you should be installing / compiling new kernels "the Debian

I cannot test in udma5, since it will crash my system :)
However, here is my output in udma3 on a WD IDE d

Thanks for the reply!
But, the suggestion by Dominique Dumont already proved to be the solution!
Changing the default udma5 to 3 with hdparm resolved the issue. I tested wi

Do I need to rebuild my kernel or is there a way to prevent the kernel from

Just an important addition in my opinion:

Hi all,
English is not my native language. Does anyone know what 'dangling' means?
I get the following errors emailed via cron every day:
/etc/cron.daily/man-db:

I just tried apt-get install -t testing libpgsql2 and it installs now...
Hopefully this doesn't screw up my system ;)
Anyone having experiences getting to install OGo on Sid?

Hi
If the sysadmins aren't complete morons, you could kindly ask them to
switch on IMAP support on their Exchange Server. It is just a simple
switch somehwere and shouldn't be much work.
At my office they kindly did this for me, after some debate ;).
Good luck!

P.S. some MCSE sysadmins are

But how do you filter them out using postfix?

Hi,
Sure is nice! I'd love to be able to provide support for this to my
customers. However, I don't like the fact that the Outlook plugin is
closed-source... with quite a high price-tag. It will be impossible to
convince customers to use OpenGroupware.org instead of Exchange if it is

I have to add, I just found this in my /var/log/zope/Z2-detailed.log.
There is nothing in Z2.log. It generates the message below when I try to
acces it on localhost:9673

Hi,
Anyone else using zope?
I am trying to get it to work on Sid with Apache 1.3.
Troubles I have:
- I cannot compile pcgi because I don't have the Apache sources, so I
went without it.
- I try to reach the zserver itself directly on port 9673, but it does
nothing also nothing in the logs...
You have two options:
1- go to your local reseller and buy Windows. If you have a problem, call
the Evil Empire.
2- RTFM. Google is your best friend. First try the user manuals on
www.debian.org.
If you consider continuing running Debian GNU/Linux, and you read the
manuals and HOWTO's and you st

You are absolutely right. It is weird that is not mentioned at all in the
kernelconf
Even easier is to read it afterwards.
Try:
'dmesg | less'
or:
'less /var/log/kern.log'
Both ways give you lots of info what happened during bootup and enables
you grep'ing for stuff as well of course :).

Did you enable CONFIG_PACKET and CONFIG_FILTER in your kernel? Without
this, your system won't be able to use DHCP.

Net-HOWTO might come in handy too.
Good luck!
