not to /etc/hosts makes no difference, and they're equally available in my DNS server. I'm stumped! BTW, I should point out that I have some Solaris boxes whose telnet and OpenSSH don't have this delay to any hosts... -- --------

no restriction to using RSA in OpenSSH (or anywhere else, for that matter). OpenSSH does support RSA (or rather, it will if your OpenSSL library has support for RSA built in, since OpenSSH uses OpenSSL for this). -- -------
