BTW, is there a relationship between kppp and ppp? Does kppprc

can anyone tell me how to work out what the problem could be?
The entry in 192.168.0.6:/etc/exports is:
/etc 192.168.0.2(ro)
where 192.168.0.2 is the nfs client.

In RedHat Linux 9.0 the X login manager (and eventually KDE)

My apologies to all.

I partitioned about 45Gig, and planned to finish partitioning some

However fdisk now informs me:

having a second X server running seems like a reasonable
stopgap
measure.
By having two concurrent X window sessions running,
I would not need to close down X and start another X session as root, every
time I
need to
run some administrative task.
Thanks for your help.

cute 'su -', then $LOGNAME in the child bash shell will be 'root', the
expression '[ ! "$LOGNAME = "root ]' will evaluate to false, and so nothing will
happen, as far as I can see. So I don't see what difference it makes in my
situation.
I appreciate your help,
or to that, as the normal user that started the X window
session:
xhost localhost
This somehow doesn;t work on Debian Linux (unstable distribution).
Would anybody be able to tell me why, and how to go about diagnosing the
problem,
or better still, what to do about it.
TIA,
